Tanzania Mobile Users Exceed 41 Million in June 2018

According to the latest telecoms statistics for the period April – June 2018 published by the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA), subscriptions to mobile networks reached a record high of 41,708,218 in June 2018.

Over Q3 2018 there has been a net addition of 1,490,172 telecom users, most of which through the two largest mobile operators in Tanzania: Vodacom (+587,908 users), and Tigo (+545,604 users).

During the same period, Mobile Money Subscriptions (Mobile Money Accounts) reached 20,855,164 from 20,163,990 in April 2018.

Tanzania's latest telecom statistics for Q4 2025 show that total mobile subscriptions reached 106.9 million as of December. Smartphone penetration increased to 41.82%, 5G coverage reached 30.1% of the population, and the average mobile internet speed was 30.30 Mbps.

Paratus Group Launches Internet and Digital Infrastructure Services in Tanzania as Part of East Africa Expansion

Paratus Group, a pan-African network services provider, has launched licensed operations in Tanzania to deliver internet, cloud, cybersecurity and managed network services to enterprises. The expansion is part of its East Africa rollout, supported by its East–West fiber backbone, as the region’s GDP share is forecast to grow to 29% by 2040.
