Hilton Hotel Corporation Opens Tanzania Doubletree Branches

Plans for the Tanzania tourism sector to welcome two new world class hotels to locations in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar became official yesterday following the signing of two franchise license agreements the Hilton Hotels Corporation franchise Doubletree and the owners of the Opulent Hotel Group.

The two hotels that will be opened are the Doubletree by Hilton Dar es Salaam, located in Masaki, and the Doubletree by Hilton Resort Zanzibar, located in Nungwi.

According to a statement that was released by Doubletree and reported by the Citizen, both of these hotels are expected to be opened by October, at which time the total number of Tanzania’s hotel accommodation capacity will witness an increase of 259 international quality rooms.

“Doubletree offers a wide variety of distinctively designed upscale hotels and resorts in some of the most sought after business and leisure destinations around the world,” said the global head of the Doubletree Brand, Rob Palleschi, in the recent statement, “There are numerous opportunities to build the Doubletree by Hilton brand further in Africa and it is exciting to begin this journey by introducing such outstanding locations like Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar later this year.”

The recently released statement has also indicated that as a result of the increase in international tourist arrivals to Tanzania in combination with an increase in the overall domestic and intra-regional travel, the country is currently experiencing a high demand for quality hotel accommodation.
