British Airways to Launch Tanzania Flights to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar in May 2027

British Airways will launch three weekly flights from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar from 29 May 2027. The seasonal Tanzania service will operate until 31 October 2027.

British Airways flights to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar

British Airways will launch three weekly flights from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar in Tanzania from 29 May 2027, with the seasonal service operating until 31 October 2027.

The new service will operate from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro International Airport before continuing to Zanzibar.

British Airways said the route will operate three times per week during the 2027 summer season, covering the peak safari period, UK school summer holidays and autumn half term.

Tanzania Investment Guide 2026 Free Edition

The service will provide direct access from London to Tanzania’s Northern Safari Circuit, including the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Tarangire and Lake Manyara, as well as Mount Kilimanjaro.

The onward service to Zanzibar will connect the same route with the country’s main Indian Ocean tourism destination.

British Airways said return fares for the new Tanzania service will start from GBP 849, including taxes and fees.

The airline’s Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, said: “We’re excited to be launching flights to two exceptional new destinations that showcase the very best of Tanzania.”

He added: “From the vast plains of the Serengeti and the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro to the turquoise waters and white-sand beaches of Zanzibar, these new routes strengthen our footprint in East Africa and open the door to some of the world’s most extraordinary travel experiences.”

On 2 October, Tanzanian agribusiness and digital delegations visited facilities in Emilia-Romagna during the EU–Tanzania roadshow’s Italian leg. World Bank Considers Financing Second Phase of Dar es Salaam Port Upgrade

The World Bank is considering financing a second phase of the Dar es Salaam Port upgrade after the first phase, backed by a USD 345 million credit, reached 85% completion and helped raise annual throughput from 14 million tonnes in 2015/16 to 32.8 million tonnes in 2025/26.
