DSE exchange Weekly Market Report

According to CORE Securities Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) Weekly Market Report for the week ended Thursday March 24th 2016, the market total turnover was TZS 1,485,224,890.

The total market capitalisation reached TZS 20,690.91 billion down by -1.81% compared to the previous week’s close at TZS 21,072.33 billion.

A total of 593,006 shares were transacted in 224 trades.

Trading activity was recorded in NMB and TBL.

Indexes

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,360.66 points down by -1.81% compared to the previous week’s close of 2,404.09 points.

The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 3,863.56 points down by -0.99% compared to the previous week’s close of 3,901.64 points.

Bonds

In the bond market, there was a Treasury tender registered during the week ended 24/03/2016.

The amounts of Treasuries regitered were TZS 10.2 billion for 91 days, TZS 122.3 billion for 182 days and TZS 253.7 billion for 364 days.

On March 24th 2016, BOT 91 days treasury bill yielded a 8.24% interest, 182 days treasury bill yielded a 16.76% and 364 days treasury bill yielded a 17.32% interest.

Interest Rate

The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) bank rate was 12.0% while the prime rate was 10.0%.

Forex

On Thursday March 24th 2016, the value of the United States Dollar (USD) against the Tanzanian shilling (TZS) was USD 1 = TZS 2,168.31 (+0.003%).
