The four-day trading week ending Thursday, 17th April 2025, at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw turnover rise by 45.53% to TZS 7,004.80 million from 18,748,186 shares traded, while only three stocks recorded gains, led by MKCB with a 7.41% increase.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 16, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 7,004.80 million from 18,748,186 shares traded across multiple deals. The week had four trading days due to Good Friday on 18th April. Turnover increased by 45.53% compared to Week 15’s TZS 4,813.16 million, while trading volume surged by 689.84% from 2,373,651 shares traded the previous week.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 16, the total market capitalization stood at TZS 18,903.75 billion, reflecting a -0.83% decrease from Week 15’s TZS 19,062.30 billion. Domestic market capitalization was TZS 12,984.58 billion, a slight increase of 0.01% from Week 15’s TZS 12,983.30 billion.

Bond Market

The bond market recorded a turnover of TZS 186.28 billion across numerous deals during Week 16, representing a 33.86% increase compared to Week 15’s TZS 139.15 billion. Government bonds continued to dominate trading activity, with strong investor interest across various maturities reflecting confidence in long-term government securities. Meanwhile, corporate bonds maintained steady activity, indicating ongoing investor appetite despite market fluctuations.

Week 16 saw mixed index performance at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE). The All Share Index (DSEI) declined by -0.83%, while the Banks, Finance & Investment Index (BI) rose slightly by 0.02%.
