Tanzania Vietnam Seek Increased Trade Relations

In an effort to elevate trade relations between their two countries, Tanzania President Jakaya Kikwete and Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang held bilateral talks in Hanoi and agreed to organize an early meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee in 2015.

According to President Sang, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with Tanzania has always been important to Vietnam.

“Viet Nam always attaches importance to expanding mutually beneficial co-operation with African countries, including Tanzania, which has always sided with Viet Nam in its past struggles for national independence and unification as well as the current national construction and development process,” he said.

President Kikwete echoed the remarks of his counterpart saying that the Vietnamese struggles for independence and unification and its developmental achievements were an inspiration in the movement towards a more liberalized and developed Tanzania.

The two countries agreed to find ways to strengthen relations including the facilitation of cooperation and investment projects in agriculture, telecommunications, trade, fisheries, education, healthcare, and maritime transport services.

“Tanzania is an ideal investment destination for everybody,” said President Kikwete, “There are countless investment opportunities in Tanzania, which you can capitalize on.”
