Tanzania Hires International Law Firm to Negotiate LNG Project

Tanzania LNG Processing Plant Project

The Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) hired UK law firm Baker Botts as the Transaction Adviser to the Government Negotiation Team and TPDC regarding the development of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in the country.

Baker Botts is made of approximately 700 lawyers practicing throughout 12 offices around the globe focused on energy, technology, and life sciences sectors.

Tanzanian LNG Project

The Tanzanian LNG project involves the development and construction of an onshore LNG plant to process and liquefy natural gas from significant offshore natural gas discoveries in the country and to export LNG to international markets.

The project would involve TPDC and the Government of Tanzania together with a number of international energy companies including Equinor, Shell, ExxonMobil, Pavilion Energy, and Ophir Energy.
