DSE exchange Weekly Market Report

According to CORE Securities Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) Weekly Market Report for the week ended Friday December 18th 2015, the market total turnover was TZS 12,949,486,290.

The total market capitalisation reached TZS 20,186.48 billion down by -3.66% compared to the previous week’s close at TZS 20,952.48 billion.

A total of 1,875,835 shares were transacted in 259 trades.

Trading activity was recorded in CRDB, TPCC and TCCL.

Indexes

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,300.02 points down by -3.69% compared to the previous week’s close of 2,388.07 points.

The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,508.89 points down by -0.90% compared to the previous week’s close of 4,549.81 points.

Bonds

In the bond market, there was a Treasury tender registered during the week ended 18/12/2015.

The amounts of Treasuries registered were TZS 1,080 million for 91 days, TZS 57,523 million for 182 days and TZS 137,099 million for 364 days.

On December 18th 2015, BOT 91 days treasury bill yielded a 9.29% interest, 182 days treasury bill yielded a 17.10% and 364 days treasury bill yielded a 18.65% interest.

Interest Rate

The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) bank rate was 12.0% while the prime rate was 6.37%.

Forex

On Friday December 18th 2015, the value of the United States Dollar (USD) against the Tanzanian shilling (TZS) was USD 1 = TZS 2,136.72 (+0.12%).
