According to CORE Securities Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) Weekly Market Report for the week ended Friday December 4th 2015, the market total turnover was TZS 65,440,726,935.

The total market capitalisation reached TZS 20,671.17 billion down by -0.55% compared to the previous week’s close at TZS 20,785.41 billion.

A total of 5,442,582 shares were transacted in 353 trades.

Indexes

The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange All Share Index (DSEI) closed at 2,356.16 points down by -0.55% compared to the previous week’s close of 2,369.30 points.

The Tanzania Share Index (TSI) closed at 4,582.52 points down by -0.35% compared to the previous week’s close of 4,598.47points.

The Industrial and Allied (IA) closed at 6,041.27 points down by -0.69% compared to the previous week’s close of 6,083.20 points.

The Banks, Finance & Investment (BI) closed at 3,186.89 points down by -2.96% compared to the previous week’s close of 3,284.26 points.

The Commercial Services (CS) closed at 3,957.44 points up by +0.11% compared to the previous week’s close of 3,953.25 points.

Bonds

In the bond market, there was a Treasury tender registered during the week ended 04/12/2015.

The amounts of Treasuries registered were TZS 50.35 million for 35 days, TZS 300 million for 91 days, TZS 25,000 million for 182, and TZS 94,316.27 million for 364 days.

On December 4th 2015, BOT 35 days treasury bill yielded a 7.40% interest, 91 days treasury bill yielded a 9.35% interest, 182 days treasury bill yielded a 16.97%, and 364 days treasury bill yielded a 18.86% interest.

Interest Rate

The Bank of Tanzania (BOT) bank rate was 12.0% while the prime rate was 8.25%.

Forex
