The trading week ending on Friday 1st November 2024 at the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) saw a strong increase in total turnover and volume compared to the previous week.

Turnover and Volume

During Week 44 of 2024, the DSE recorded a total turnover of TZS 25,076.51 million from 21,102,099 shares traded.

This represents an increase of 269.96% in total turnover and 189.00% in volume traded compared to the previous week, which saw a turnover of TZS 6,778.03 million from 7,301,632 shares traded.

Most of the increase in trading activity stems from CRDB pre-arranged trades.

Market Capitalization

At the close of Week 44 of 2024, the total market capitalization and domestic market capitalization of listed shares at the DSE amounted to TZS 18,449.68 billion and TZS 12,300.89 billion, respectively.

This reflects an increase of 1.10% and 1.06% compared to the previous week’s close figures of TZS 18,247.51 billion and TZS 12,171.19 billion.

Bond Market

During week 44 of 2024, the bond market recorded transactions worth TZS 32.37 billion, representing a decrease of -59.98% compared to TZS 80.89 billion in the previous week.

Indexes

At the close of Week 44 in 2024, all indexes increased in value, with the Banks, Finance & Investment Index (BI) outperforming the others.
