On October 6th 2016, industrial conglomerate Bakhresa Group of Tanzania launched a TZS261b fruit processing factory in the Mkuranga district near Dar es Salaam.
The factory has the capacity of processing 350t of fruit per day and generating employment for at least 1,000 people.
At the inauguration ceremony, Tanzanian President Magufuli urged Bakhresa to invest in sugar production to address Tanzania’s deficit.
In response, the company announced that it is willing to set up a sugar factory in Tanzania if the government provides the land. For this, Magufuli pledged 10,000 acres.
Bakhresa Group is an industrial house in Tanzania, operating for more than 40 years. It invests mainly in the food and beverages sector, packaging, logistics, marine passenger services, petroleum and entertainment.
