Germany And Tanzania To Construct USD 1.7 Billion Fertilizer Factory

During the recent visit to Tanzania of German President Joachim Gauck, President Kikwete announced that Ferrostaal Industrial Projects of Germany will partner with the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC) and other international companies to construct a USD 1.7 billion fertilizer factory.

The plant will begin operations in 2019 in Mtwara and will produce more than 1 million tons of fertilizer every year.

In a joint press conference, Presidents Gauck and Kikwete announced their joint commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries after 50 years of continued political and diplomatic relations.

“Currently there are 150 German investment projects in Tanzania valued at 300 million Euros,” said President Kikwete, “Tanzania is what it is today because of the support by partners like Germany. We have discussed and reaffirmed our commitment to work together.”
