A research report from Imara Equity Research has shown that China is the most significant investor in Tanzania.
A combination of infrastructure based investments in key areas such as railways, ports, buildings, road construction and gas pipelines has seen the Asian country become the biggest foreign investor in Tanzania.
Direct investment from China now stands at USD 2.1 billion, up from USD 700 million in 2011.
The report also notes that bilateral trade between the two countries has also increased dramatically.
Bilateral trade between Tanzania and China amounted to USD 2.47 billion in 2012 and according to the CIA, China is the destination for 11.1% of Tanzanian exports.
