On 8th October 2024, SafariBookings, an online platform providing information and booking services for safari tours across Africa, announced that Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park was voted Africa’s Best Safari Park for the 5th consecutive time.
In an annual study to determine the 50 best African safari parks for 2024, SafariBookings analyzed 2,384 reviews on its platform, where 1,239 reviews were by safari tourists from 74 countries and 1,145 reviews were written by renowned international safari industry experts, including guidebook authors working with Lonely Planet, Rough Guides, Frommer’s, Bradt Travel Guides, and Footprint.
Four of Tanzania’s parks are ranked among Africa’s top ten safari destinations, with Serengeti National Park at 1st, Ruaha National Park at 4th, Ngorongoro Crater at 9th, and Katavi National Park at 10th.
The Serengeti received an overall rating of 4.85 out of 5, higher than 195 other parks and reserves across East and Southern Africa.
In its press release, SafariBookings highlighted: “The Serengeti’s fifth successive victory as Africa’s best safari park is a remarkable and thoroughly deserved achievement. This is especially the case given the high standard of competition in Tanzania and farther afield across East and southern Africa.”

- Masai Mara National Reserve – Kenya
- Ngorongoro Crater – Tanzania
- Katavi National Park – Tanzania
The Serengeti National Park
The Serengeti National Park is a world heritage site teeming with wildlife of over 2 million ungulates, 4,000 lions, 1,000 leopards, 550 cheetahs, and some 500 bird species in an area close to 15,000 square kilometers.
It is home to the world’s largest population of wildebeest, Zebra, Cape Eland, Lion, Cheetah, Hyena, and Gazelles.
While the park is best known for the annual migration of 2.5 million wildebeest and zebras, the Serengeti remains a tourist destination throughout the year.
