Tanzania-China Trade Volume Reached USD3.7bn in 2013

According to the Chinese Ambassador to China Mr Lu Youqing, trade volumes between China and Tanzania amounted to USD3.7bn in 2013.

The announcement was made in Dar es Salaam at the event accompanying the start of the Chinese new year.

According to ambassador Youqing to date more than 500 Chinese companies have invested in Tanzania.

The Chinese embassy to Tanzania previously informed the general public during February 2014 that China’s total direct investment in Tanzania soared from $700 million in 2011 to $2.1 billion in 2013, turning the world’s second biggest economy into the biggest foreign investor in the east African country.

Tanzania's exports of goods and services increased to USD 17.5 billion in the year ending November 2025. Gold exports rose by 42.1% to USD 4.7 billion, transport earnings rose by 37.3% to USD 2,772.4 million, and tourist arrivals increased by 9.9% to 2,315,478.

Gold exports rose by 38.9% to USD 4,596.5 million, traditional exports improved by 25.2%, and tourist arrivals increased by 11.4% to 2,324,387, boosting travel receipts to USD 6,910.8 million.

Tanzania's exports of goods and services increased by 14.8% to USD 17,094.2 million in the year ending September 2025. Gold exports rose by 35.8% to USD 4,431.2 million, traditional exports improved by 38.3%, and tourist arrivals increased by 11.9% to 2,315,637, boosting travel receipts.
